Timber Rattlesnake
Timber Rattlesnakes are one of three types of venomous snakes found in Virginia. They are one of the only species of rattlesnake found in the northeastern United States. Timber Rattlesnakes typically have tan or gray bodies with dark brown or black bands and a distinct rattle on the end of their tails, which they will shake before striking as a warning for predators, and humans, to back off.
